If you’re a fan of dumb comedy, maybe you remember Dr. Evil’s desire for a shark with lasers. But lasers have come a long way since the imaginations of the Austin Powers comedy two decades ago. The fanciful idea is now realistic, and not for evil but to actually help treat what ails your beloved pets.
Smart laser technology? Yes. For your pet.
A couple of years ago, I added the world’s first smart laser technology to my therapeutic offering. This Class IV laser is more effective because of its four therapeutic wavelengths, which are capable of deeper penetrating to facilitate the acceleration of healing.
The Summus Laser is also the only true super pulse wavelength laser. This wonderful modern technology gives my clients a pain-free option that often starts working instantly to improve their pets health and quality of life.
The laser works by triggering the body’s natural healing mechanisms without employing either drugs or surgery. The laser increases blood flow and oxygen to the area, which accelerates the healing process. We aren’t doing anything the body wouldn’t normally do, but rather we’re speeding up the process.
Laser therapy isn’t that “new” to my practice. I’ve been using laser therapy for more than a decade, in combination with acupuncture, prolotherapy and physical therapy with great success with common ailments in dogs and cats including, arthritis, ligament sprains, neck and back pain, hip dysplasia, chronic wounds, and others.
Laser therapy works by stimulating production of cellular energy in damaged cells and by enhancing the cell membrane permeability. It also modulates pain and reduces inflammation. It can be used immediately on acute injuries, over broken skin and over metal implants.
It’s a fast, non-invasive treatment strategy that has been very successful in my practice. As technology improves so does the speed and effectiveness of healing.
